What is the Urine Routine test?
This test examines urine for its appearance, chemical content (sugar, protein, ketones, blood) and, under the microscope, for pus cells, red cells, crystals and casts.
Why is it done?
- Burning or frequent urination (suspected urine infection)
- Diabetes and kidney monitoring
- Pregnancy check-ups
- Routine health check
How to prepare
- Collect the first urine of the morning if possible
- Wash the area, pass the first part into the toilet, and collect the middle part in the sterile container
- Women should avoid testing during periods if possible
When will I get my report?
Usually within 4 hours (done in-house). You'll receive an SMS with your login to download the report online. Need help reading it? Try our free AI report explainer in English or Hindi.
Understanding your results
Pus cells suggest infection; sugar can appear with high blood sugar; protein may point to kidney involvement; and red cells need follow-up. A urine culture identifies the bacteria if an infection is suspected.
