What is the Urine Culture test?
The urine sample is placed on culture media to see whether bacteria grow. If they do, the lab identifies them and tests which antibiotics they are sensitive or resistant to.
Why is it done?
- Urine infection that is repeated, severe or not improving
- Urine infection in pregnancy, children or older adults
- Before choosing the right antibiotic
How to prepare
- Collect the sample before starting antibiotics if possible
- Use the sterile container we provide and collect a mid-stream sample
When will I get my report?
Takes longer than routine tests — usually 2–3 days, because bacteria need time to grow. We'll tell you the exact time at registration.. You'll receive an SMS with your login to download the report online. Need help reading it? Try our free AI report explainer in English or Hindi.
Understanding your results
‘No growth’ usually means no infection. If bacteria grow, the report lists the organism and the antibiotics likely to work, helping your doctor choose the right treatment.
