Also known as: HbA1c, A1c, Glycosylated haemoglobin, 3 month sugar test

What is the HbA1c test?

Sugar in the blood sticks to haemoglobin in red blood cells. Because red cells live for about three months, HbA1c reflects your average blood sugar over roughly the last 2–3 months, rather than a single moment.

Why is it done?

  • Screening for diabetes or prediabetes
  • Monitoring diabetes control, usually every 3–6 months
  • Adults over 35, or anyone with a family history, excess weight or high blood pressure

How to prepare

  • No fasting needed
  • Can be done at any time of day

When will I get my report?

Usually within 4 hours (done in-house). You'll receive an SMS with your login to download the report online. Need help reading it? Try our free AI report explainer in English or Hindi.

Understanding your results
