What is the CBC test?

A Complete Blood Count measures the main parts of your blood: haemoglobin and red blood cells (which carry oxygen), white blood cells (which fight infection, with a breakdown of their types), and platelets (which help blood clot). It also reports red cell indices such as MCV and MCH, which help work out the cause of anaemia.

Why is it done?

  • Tiredness, weakness or looking pale (to check for anaemia)
  • Fever or suspected infection
  • Before surgery or as part of a routine health check
  • Monitoring illnesses or treatments that affect the blood
  • Suspected dengue, where platelets are watched closely

How to prepare

  • No fasting needed — you can eat and drink normally
  • Tell us about any medicines you take

When will I get my report?

Usually within 4 hours (done in-house). You'll receive an SMS with your login to download the report online. Need help reading it? Try our free AI report explainer in English or Hindi.

Understanding your results

Your report shows each value next to its reference range. A low haemoglobin suggests anaemia, often from low iron. A high white cell count is common with infection or inflammation, while a low count is seen in some viral infections such as dengue. Low platelets need attention, especially with fever. Your doctor will read the whole pattern together with your symptoms.
